Before buying my E21 and the 2.8L stroker engine, I had owned five other BMWs and one Mercedes (plus a few others). I love BMWs, especially the vintage models. Where did all of this BMW love come from? I have worked for over 20 years in the BMW parts industry, first with HMS Motorsport, 18 years at Turner Motorsport, and now with BimmerWorld. I have worn many hats but the most enjoyable and satisfying role has been the writing and editing done for various websites. Not only are cars a passion for me but I made them my livelihood as well.
My brother and I are restoring a bone stock E21 323i Gray market car, Currently running E30 bottlecaps with an Eibach 20mm bolt on spacer; looks decent. I understand Hartge offered 323is in two flavors and the wheel was a BBS basket weave in 15 inch size and staggered widths of 6 and 7 inches. Can you confirm that and advise part numbers to identify an authentic set of wheels; also are these really rare or will a BBS wheel in those sizes look like Hartge mounted style?

Not sure about part numbers but they look like the standard BBS Mahle design. So should be ET13 on both. I’m not sure about other markings (TUV or VIA etc). But this video has a lot of detail: https://youtu.be/JDHnIviVLCg Wish I was more help!
