2025 Spring Update

This blog is still alive!

But I haven’t been driving the 323i much in the last year or so. I converted a E46 325i wagon to a 330i with a 3.0 M54; got back into autocross (with the wagon); I swapped the body tub on a 1949 Willys Jeep; and I bought a F22 M235i as a new daily driver.

The biggest 323i news is probably the new spring setup. I swapped out the popular German brand springs [name withheld] for an adjustable kit from Ground Control. My goal was to raise the ride height, improve the travel, and soften the ride. I’m stoked to report I accomplished all three with the GC springs but I did change the spring rate and length from their standard kit. The result is that the ride height is a lot higher so I’m no longer scraping the front lip spoiler. And it doesn’t seem like the shocks are bottoming out so the ride is a lot better. And I don’t feel like I ruined any of the handling – it still corners well and pretty flat.

In other 323i news I’ve signed up for The Vintage event in North Carolina in May, 2025. According to some, this is the largest vintage BMW event in the world. And it’s the 50th anniversary of the BMW 3-series. It will be the longest trip I’ll have done in this car and I’m quite nervous. The To-Do list is lengthy and I’ll cover that in a multi-part future post after the event.

Until next time!
